I have tried to use the "Add/Remove" software to get rid of AOL on my machine with no luck. The worst part is that even though I never, not even once, use AOL in any, way, shape, or form on this laptop - AOL has been billing me for almost a year! I had AOL back in the dark ages when my first computer was a used, freebie with a whole 4mb of RAM (how may people remember THOSE days?!) This was at the time a top of the line IBM! Obviously, it was over 10 years ago, and I have not had an AOL account for at least that long. My fight to get the charges to stop and be removed is beyond PC Decraifier's powers (oh, how I wish it wasn't!) I didn't even do what so many folk naively do: "Oh, I just use it once to get online so that I can download my dial up account of choice, etc" Anyway, it irritates me to see that icon on my toolbar.....just a wee bit.
