Prevent Unnecessary Programs From Running at Startup

There are many applications that run in the background when your computer starts up. Some also place an icon in your system tray and continue to consume system resources in addition to delaying the startup of your computer.

In virtually all cases this is completely unnecessary. Many of them are periodically contacting sites on the internet to check for updates. These applications usually also check for updates when they are used, so there is no need to continually perform the check.

Selecting these items will only prevent the applications from running at start up. The application will not be removed from your computer.
